How we count
A business appears here when it files an original liquor permit application with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission, or is issued a new sales tax permit by the Texas Comptroller in a storefront or service industry. That includes new locations of existing companies. A company is counted once per county, however many permits or locations it filed. We leave out temporary event permits, sole proprietors, online-only sellers, apartment and mailbox addresses, the chains and large companies we can identify, and companies whose state franchise tax status is not active. Businesses that look home-based are counted but not named on this page. NEW means the company was formed in the last 12 months according to Comptroller records. Everything comes from those public records. We add no phone numbers, no email addresses and no guesses.
